Tioga Downs Sunday
« on: May 20, 2018, 03:10:47 PM »
Somebody please get this announcer an oxygen mask, horrible race caller and heavy breather. Only guy worse than him is Wayne Rice at Buffalo. Buffalo listeners, have you ever noticed a caller get a boner more than this strunts when Maria Rice wins a race. Possibly the worst announcer in the History of bad announcers, ok ok Palone and Houston.

I want to know how Chantepleure wins gate to wire like an animal at 11-1 in 1:50.1! Strong headwind on the backside, and yet sets a new lifetime mark, shaving off seconds!!! Devaux special concoction!

YES. Howard Oil is the same way when Bruce Aldrich wins multiple races.  To think, Robin Burns was a free agent until a week ago.

Actually heard the Buffalo guy talking to a few fans at Batavia, acts like he's important, popular and good at calling. Im certain i could call a better horserace. Makes sense about his old lady, gets all jacked up when a rice horse is in. I wonder if the other trainers in the race want to bop him in his odd ball head. Then i see him on the tv and the guy has dracula fangs. Give me the guy at Yonkers or Joe at Batavia. Best 2 callers in the state by far.

THATS A TOTAL JOKE
Welp if Gural gave the right guy an offer to run racing there they'd have a chance but Gabe is going to serve as just another voice at the Big M.  It's not like he took Pompano from handling 100k nightly to a place where the Sunday pick 4 is a must bet because of pool size.

I used to enjoy Robin's calls at Freestate and Rosecroft , in the 80's..........he also was an Assistant Race Secretary in California  almost 40 years ago.
He used to tell this story on himself.

" A couple of young driver /trainers from Ontario, made their way out West to race at Hollywood Park.
One week into the meet, I looked over these new guys......and made some evaluations.....i dentifying one youngster as wasting his time in the business......... .he does't have it.      The kids name......John Campbell "

Is he announcing again...??? where ?

Thank you.

He was a very good harness announcer...made races exciting.......
He  was working Freestate Harness.........o wned then by DeFrancis Sr.......who also owned Laurel and Pimlico.

Robin had 1 days notice..and had to report to Pimlico.  To help him identify horses/jockeys colors....he went out and bought a  ................. .. 64 box of crayons to mark up each horse on his program

He survived
