Joe doesn't go around bragging about everything he does and buys.  Nick was all around unlikeable by most and I think that's part of the reason he got what he got.

Very true, and when you consider that statement in the realm of harness racing, man, you are saying something!  I've heard about all the "good guys" from the posts in this forum, and quite frankly would let few of them mow my yard.
