just watched the replay

the breaker was 5-6 lengths clear of the 3rd finisher and broke at the very end of the mile

horrible DQ

dont be surprised if the connections file a lawsuit since the purse was over $100k

Failure to attempt to bring horse back on stride..Look up the rule!

It’s the right call, JB let the horse gallop the last 1/16. Had he grab the horse up and tired to get him back on gate the 3rd placed horse might have
got to rear which would make it a lapped on break. Since JB made no attempt we will never know. So that’s the reason for the placing. FYI the judges could give JB days for not attempting to get the horse back on gate. That’s also part of the rule.
Maybe but it wasn't Jumpin Joey.   It was Scotty Z driving the DQd horse.  If it was Bongiorno his usual antics might have been interpreted as trying to get him back on stride.  I did see Zeron's hands move up after the break but the crazy amount of time it took and the many many replays they showed means there was some disagreement about the call.

I also thought that failure to attempt to bring the horse back on stride would be a total DQ to last ... not just one position.

Factors they looked at.. failure to bring horse to proper gait and failure to lose ground while off stride. Had the driver done either or both, could the fast closing horse that finished 3 rd caught him.  ??
I think it was the right call.  Close but a good call.

I thought Jason Bartlett was the driver. My oversight. Nothing the less the driver made no attempt to get the horse back on gate, the judges could have placed him last. I don’t there will be any appeals filed either
