It was a dungeon. i will tell you a crazy story about that paddock and it is not designed to make fun of anyone, just recounting what happened.

As you work your way deep into the paddock, along the right side numerous race bikes and jog carts are stacked up on their seats and there is an air pump nearby. at least that;s how it was in my day.

The Kopas's had a brother named Roger who worked for them. Big guy and apparently had fought in Vietnam, despite they're being Canadian born.

Anyway, someone was filling a race bike tire and it suddenly burst with a deafening sharp POP!! because of the concrete enclosed paddock. Roger, I can still see him, camo pants, white tank top, instantly dropped to his knees in a combat crouch, head looking around, holding an imaginary gun. People laughed, but it was anything but funny. He had suffered a flashback. I remember he got up and looked embarrassed and sheepish. true story.

OMG what a story. That paddock is still a cesspool when it rains. BTW if you look this up the estimate of true Canadians that were in Viet Nam was between 12,000-40,000. Many had duel citizenship which explains the wide estimate.

appreciate that info. never thought about that to explain how a Canadian could fight in Vietnam.

Kopas's a very solid racing family. Lotta respect for them.
