SOMETHING ODD AT MONTICELLO
« on: May 03, 2023, 07:37:52 AM »
Looked the other day and they handled nearly 1/2 million in only 7 races and the purses are terrible and going down. What's going on there

Bullseye!  tmbz1

For those that are not in the know, it's a not very dated article, status quo remains going forward, but hope:

I heard that the money that was supposed to be used to increase purses is being used to fix all of the barns so that the horses can stay on the grounds and not have to ship in on race day.

Do they still have driver dormitory living?, reminded me of a cross between and elementary school staircase and dilapidated prison, kind of surreal, Orwellian "1984"...I'm sure a great motivator tool, to be a better driver, make your connections and head the fuck South East out of there despite beautiful country.   ;D

There is no building going on--the money that was supposed to come from the added Casino--has failed to be passed onto horsemen.
In other words--the officials in charge of making sure the funds go to horsemen-did not succeed in locking this down.
Faraldo-would know what happened--but has been strangely quiet about all of this.

That is quite scary, and possibly intuitive, has the NYS legislature been lobbied to the point where casinos can operate autonomously in regarding to being able to eliminate the racetrack(s).  The casinos lined up with their $500 million dollar check to pay the state requested licensing fee, they probably were thinking only "$500mil" lol, what would you do for us for a bil$.

But as a year ago, this.. "The deal includes protections to the racing support payments that flow to all Thoroughbred and Standardbred racetracks in the state."

This all sounds like a bunch of clever pricks and slippery cocksuckers...som eone (who got an envelope?) didn't (chose not to?) read the fine fucking print!   ;D

I was going though some legislative bills back a few months ago and, saw where Faraldo was able to get a bill passed to skim 1.5-2.0 points from the VLT purse contributions to prop up the Health and Welfare fund. I assume the cost of health insurance as well as the underperforming pension  fund was or is in trouble.
Just out of curiosity, can someone name another program that sponsored health insurance and a pension program for non state or state agency employees? For people who are independent contractors and  others who are employed by independent contractors?

I didn't know of any off the top of de head, and I did some research now, and tried to find, and NO, couldn't find thus far.  That's excellent research and analysis.  Nice work!   tmbz1

Was it an original inspiration from Faraldo, I dunno, I found this as it seems to align, and has been encouraged:

A story from a reliable source- but which I can’t independently verify-is that Alan Schwartz, the head of the Monti Harness Horseman’s Association, ticked off someone by demanding the money sooner than promised, thus causing an indefinite delay.

Thanks buddy! tmbz1

Here's a Q&A (below link) with him, insightful based on what you said and reading it and getting a feel of the mindset of someone I only vaguely recall from my periphery.  "Bleak" future for harness racing, (why not push for the money quicker) "One in the hand..."!

Will let you know. Maybe later today or tomorrow. Don’t want to interrupt your day job.

Me?, lol, the last dm? the option is available to you, anytime.

I just got through the Oaks, 1 down, 9 to go.  I'm not a slave to it, quite frankly I'm into handicapping now for the first time in a while, and running with the opportunity.  I think the burn out is in the rear view, I'm almost enthused.   73cv.2

No one knows wtf we're talking about.  Hell I might not.   ;D
