One more then I will give up.
The old time trainer sent you to the tack room to get a cue. What would you bring back?

Headpole
Three stars for the Old Guy.
You are so right.
The first head poles were pool cues.
They would stick out 6 to 8 inches ahead of the horse's nose, and slide through the head halter ring.
Imagine the horse following you with the pool cue next to your ear.

First question.
Your horse ran three Saturdays in a row. What do you do with him this week?
Where can your horse run 3x in a row without qualifying?

A)  On an off track
B) He still hit the board.

1:30 unless your horse stepped in one of the many potholes and broke down.

3rd question
You are stabled at Hawthorne Park.
A mile track build for Tbreds a zillion years ago.
You want to train your pacer an even rated mile in 2:00.
What should your watch read as you go by the big pole marked 1/4?
Hint
30 seconds is not the correct answer.

Correct.  Tbred 1/4 poles are 1/4 mile from the finish.

2nd question
Your horse just bowed a tendon.
Why should you rub glue on it's hips?
Let's See!
Why should you rub glue on a lame horse's hips?
Hint,
It is not to make the horse sounder or to go faster.

OK
You rub glue on a lame horse's hips so that the hip number doesn't fall off at the next horse auction.

You know to me as a kid I was in awe of the place, had my little stable and caring for that track?
