Miami Valley and Dayton race in daytime. 11.wp
And they only race 4 months a year each. Oh and the weather is just a little different in southern Ohio than NY

My final point will be and believe me, I don't play Monti [garbage] and could care less if they race or even stay open.
BUT they have raced there year round forever. I'm sure this isn't the worst winter ever. I never recall 'EVER' there
being WEEKS missed at a time. And yes it does freeze and thaw in Ohio. 11.wp

I was there when Ron Saxe went through the snow fence. That's when they brought out the traffic cones to race around. All short term. Even when the grader sunk into the track it was days, not weeks.

As a public service announcement, here is Tuesday's Monticello update as posted on the USTA website:

Monticello, NY — Once again, due to track conditions, Monticello Raceway has canceled live racing on Tuesday (March 18).

"We now return you to your regular local programming".........

Last week when I called the race office I was told it’s day to day. Obviously that’s a lie.

Whether it's greed, money, ineptness, or whatever-----the optics and the reality are simply bad.

It doesn't appear that they don't give a $hit.....the reality is they don't.

Since day 1 of the slots, they did everything they could to get rid of the fans and succeeded.

I personally think Monticello is doing quite well. I think the Race Secretary has done an amazing job with inferior horses. There are only a handful of tracks that do more business on a daily basis.

As a public service announcement, please see below for an update from Monticello Raceway, as seen on the USTA website moments ago.

Monticello, NY — Monticello Raceway has canceled live racing Wednesday (March 19) and Thursday (March 20) in order to make the track safe to race on.

Not exactly sure WHEN the track will be safe to race on.... but at least they are being more realistic for the balance of the week.

We now return you to your regular local programming...... .
