They were talking about roaming six months harness and six months tbreds. They really don’t want harness at all. It doesn’t make them enough dough

pretty sure they'll apply for some type of dates.....that way they get to continue operating their OTBs - some of which have slots....I'm guessing Carey decided just to milk the business for as long as he can - no big investing in the business, i.e. no build out of a casino...no renovations to the racetrack - if you want to watch live racing on the apron you have to stand in the corner on the first turn....finish line is well before where any fans can see the finish live....and if you want to stay inside the joint you'll be watching simulcast races on tv's bought by Tom Carey in the early 80s...sad state of affairs in illinois for horse racing...

Don’t whine about it. The cheating horsemen deserve all the get. Time for the fans to get revenge. Fuck the horsemen. Race in front of 25 people. How do you like that.

Illinois racing sucks.  The days of Balmoral having full fields and being a viable betting option are long gone from Illinois.  Anyone who regularly bets Illinois harness racing deserves to live there!  ngc3

Caray's must figure sucking up that recapture makes it worth still keeping the doors open. Whether they don't have the money, or the cost of money has gotten more expensive that they can't build out a casino. Or do they or don't they have a partner to run the casino end of operation? Take any longer than it is head-to-head with a Chicago full fledge casino less than twenty miles away. Wonder what the old figures where on what revenues and splits would be VS going against a Chicago based casino? A gloomy outlook?

If City of Chicago casino opens first, bye bye Hawthorne. You can take that to the bank.

What can the IHHA do you idiot? The Johnston’s did the same thing for years. Horsemen have to power. The track owners have always controlled everything. Wake up you lame brain.
