Pocono 9th race Saturday
« on: February 26, 2024, 10:58:10 AM »
Hmmm, questionable exacta payoff. 6-1 beats 40-1, first and second throughout, exacta pays only $ 106.00? Place horse driven by a trainer who rarely drives.  And, no, I didn’t bet the race.

I thought it might have been for $1, it wasn't but it still would have been low. I'm with you, pretty shady. Some will say low pool but still, c'mon man.

funny - i thought the same thing....

the number came back was 2-1,,,, lot of people bet numbers.  winner was 3rd choice from the two hole -- probably alot of people had the place horse since he had the rail and thru him on ticket.

Good analysis. A more sinister explanation would be that the folks who are given the privilege of betting just after the race starts, saw who was leaving, and punched as many tickets as they could.

I know PD has some shady stuff going on especially in the area of chemistry. But as was just pointed out a 1-2 box in harness racing will always return less than other combinations. Then there’s a pool of $11,800 before the take out. Not very much, about $9,450 net. Small pools, inside posts probably explains the low payout versus thinking Chris Temming was involved in some kind of fix with all the other drivers going along. Just my opinion.

No, just going around the track trying to  finish where they should.

I looked at the race thinking no money in the pool, but there was almost 12,000 so that's not bad, really suspect? Las year I had a pentafecta with a 40.00 horse on top that paid 207.00.

Exacta pool only had $105 in it so price was an overlay.

5900 $2 exacta wagers, approximately 85 winning tickets, More than there should have been but I was at Borgata Saturday and some jerk off was betting $100 3 horse boxes on longshots on just about every track running so he might have caught a piece of that. Dude probably wagered 20k in a few hours and I don't think he or his buddies knew anything about horse racing.

With the small pools and the 2-1 number, I’m of the opinion that it was people using the rail horse in the exacta. If I played the winner, I would have used the 1 for second.

I’m sure that 1-2, 2-1 are usually underlays in harness racing.
