Breeders' Crown Elims
« on: October 24, 2020, 12:17:37 AM »
I thought there were a fair amount of surprises, personally. I saw a lot of my over-under exacta horses charging home from the stratosphere to get 3rds, mostly ngc3 Hopefully they're better next week, or I have the good sense to toss them aside!
2YO colt pace - This should be a good race next week. I thought Perfect Sting might be getting a bit tired. Hell no. Should be a good one.

3yo filly pace - Party Girl Hill continued to dominate so no surprise there. I can't see how she gets beat next week...I know the other filly was faster tonight but PGH is one for the ages.

2YO colt trots - sort of taken aback to see Captain Corey just chug along to be 2nd. I assume he will be better next week but Venerate easily kept him at bay. That's disappointing. I want to see CC do well; I loved his sire as a racehorse and thought her never got a fair shake here in the states and now he's been full books overseas. And with good reason. I was also rooting for the Trixton colt in the first elim but he imploded. Final should be an interesting race.

2yo filly pace..92-1 shocker in the 2yo filly pace from a Burke filly. Good trip, but a strong race nonetheless.

2yo filly trot and 2yo filly pace - these seem pretty wide open to me. Good betting races. Honestly, so is the 3yo filly trot. No one is laying over the field at all.

Those are my humble thoughts. Can't wait to hear what others think.

As someone who has driven in elimination races i can tell you that you need to be cautious when betting them.

I wish they would not go back to back weeks.  None of these 2 or 3 year olds race back to back like this.

I'll agree on the "need to be cautious" but not on the "non betting"

When they are betting races...... you have the choice of not betting on the race.

If they were non betting races.... nobody has the choice to bet, keep the choice available.

Whose idea was it for the breeders crown winners to wear ribbons? This is no show contest, they look disgusting and cheap. Hambo society please find more class and better ideas than show ribbons for these champions. Ribbons look like they were purchased at Wal Mart.

Opinions...I've never seen Gingras get into a horse like he did with the Stranger tonight...Seemed awfully rough on him...
