Lauren and Bea
« on: May 27, 2023, 06:57:01 PM »

Does Lauren Tritton remind anyone of Bea Farber like she does to me? For those that don't know who Bea Farber was...please disregard this question?

Bea was incredible. The worst bred horses of all time and she won many races with those Quick Harry offspring. Tritton is not in her league.

haven't seen enough of Lauren Tritton to comment on her, but she'd have to be really good to match Queen Bea....Bea competed very well with some EXCELLENT drivers on the Chicago circuit...

My favorite Bea Farber story.
SP Park early 1980's.
Upper class mare race.
In the paddock.
Joe O'Brien mare on one side of me with 2nd trainer, two grooms, strip harness, mare a full bath after last warm up mile. Full grand circuit style.
Bea with "Go Bea Go" on the other side. Bea never gave her horses baths before or after racing. Bea backs her mare in. Leaves the bridle and race bike on. Bea throws on a blanket , no drink for the horse, and leaves.
I am in the middle. Not grand circuit, but more care then Bea.
THE RESULTS,
Bea wins. I get a check. "Jiggling Jesus" No checky.

In the tack shop Bea once told me I look like "Andy Griffith".
I still don't know if that was an insult or a compliment.

The USTA made a promotional movie about her titled "Queen Bea"

In an interview it was either Mike Paradice or Elleanor Flavin asked Bea whats the difference between driving a pacer and a trotter.
Bea says "To drive a trotter you have to pull up your bra straps a little tighter".

Bea never said much in a horse race, but as soon as she crossed the finish wire she would nonstop nervous jabber to whoever was in ear shot.
There will never be another Bea like Bea!!

I must have missed her glory days. When I went to Maywood, first horse to eliminate was one Bea was driving
