OK, Trivia Time
« on: June 07, 2023, 03:58:38 PM »
"One for a quarter, 5 for a dollar! Don't forget the kids are home!'

Tell me what this has to do with harness racing.

Might be tough if you are under 45

Have fun

The only thing that makes sense to me is Pretzels outside of Yonkers but I thought they were more than that.  They were good maybe still are for all I know but they ain't that price no more.

You are in the general ballpark. Hint - not food.

Outside after the races at SP Park it was "3 Card Monte", Hot Dogs, and the next nights Green Sheet.
" Get your Green Sheet Here. 6 winners tonight, more for you for tomorrow" "Get your Green Sheet Here"

Since he put it in quotes implying that it's something that was said and he says its not food than a vendors call makes perfect sense. don't know about what but that sounds right.

You basically nailed it. Roosevelt Raceway 70s and 80s. Black man selling coiled big yellow snake balloons on a stick by the down escalator near the parking lot at the top of the stretch. He would hold like 50 of em, with a few blown up. He'd shout that slogan always finishing it with reminding the adults they had "kids at home". I remember he once told my father he put 2 daughters through med school this way and this was all he did for a living. going to Gam Wah after the races where Buddy Gilmour's bagman would divide the loot between the "inner circle " drivers.

great times at the greatest half mile track that ever existed hands down. the barn area was a world unto itself. even had a full time barber shop.
