I know he is a fan favorite on here. You can tell he is losing his touch. His calls are slower like he has to think about what he is about to say. One more day of hearing this 500x

  On the outside
  On the outside

At 80 years old, the guy works more than your average 40 year old. Cut him some slack and show some respect.

He sucked at 50. Adds unnecessary drama to benign situations. Rarely gives lengths, mentions trailing horses once going to the half and cant mention them again because his calls are slower than the action unfolding. his screaming "3 wide" about horses obviously going no where , then clearing his throat on mic is lame. He must have the money and sense enough to retire by now, but if he still needs or wants to work, he should stick to color commentary and giving history in his softer voice which he is still pretty good at. Beyond that, at any age he has still been an irritant to listen to.

Yes, but Roger needs to have some respect for the game and know when to step down and hand over the mic.  Why tarnish your career?

Pay some respect? 73cv.2 Like learn how to spell his name? ngc3 Though I wish he'd move to Houston and stay there.

Huston and his gaudy pinky rings aren't fit to hold the mic for:
Frank Salive
Sam McKee (RIP)
John Bothe
Phil Georgeff
Tony Salvaro
Jack E Lee
.. and about a dozen other better announcers. He's Steve Cross with a deeper voice and 1/10th the class. If harness racing were more popular, he'd be a national disgrace.
The USTA fails because they wallow in the past, and rarely cast an eye toward the future. Letting Huston call anything on Jug Day beyond a NW-1/CL is ruining the game.

Roger got himself so confused when announcing the winning connections on Monday that he said “In the training victory circle” confusing the trainer and driver.

He’s gotta go.  Hell, Tom Durkin whose been retired nearly 10 years ran circles around him with his call of the 2nd race on Tuesday.

Classic mistake.  There was a race yesterday in which he said they are going for a purse of $305.
