What will happen to the welfare dwellers @ the Goshen S.R.O's?

They rely on the Government for everything, so close to Christmas too.

Such a shame for those who rely on those services.
Simple solution, get a job like the rest of us

Sen. Thune (R) can file a motion for cloture anytime he wants. It would force a simple majority vote ..but then again the massive federal employee layoffs would be front page news, the newest House number would be sworn in, and the heinous exposure of pedos in Republican circles would horrifying anyone with a conscience.
MAGA Mike the closeted twink can't have that, nor can Trump probably, since after all he was Epstein's BFF

WRONG. passing the continuing resolution requires 60 votes, Republicans only hold 53 seats in the senate.

you're correct 60 votes are needed. Who in their right mind wants to agree to cutting off food thru SNAP and WIC for millions of people, Republican voters and Democratic voters? How can we chant America First then give that idiot in Argentina 40 billion?

No matter who has a majority, Congress is supposed to debate, then agree thru deal making. The Republicans aren't budging, but the Democrats should just give in? Doesn't sound like compromising or deal making to me.

Ask in spring of next year after I take advantage of an extra 6000-dollar deduction on my taxes. I am over 65 and ss is part of my income.
The thing that has strained my budget the most here in NJ is the 20 pct raise in electric bills starting this summer that was caused by wacko Democrat governor Phil Murphy's love for windmills and hate for fossil fuels.

I disagree.  And I know more than you because I worked for a NJ utility company for over 30 years.
The increase was caused by 2 reasons: PJM was slow to act on alternative energy requests and AI data centers are swallowing up huge amounts of electricity, so demand was exceeding supply.

if you’re healthy and capable of working, you should have a job. Those that are capable and not working are just plain lazy and useless.

Same in NY. Just south of me is one of the largest natural gas reserves in PA, it extends into NY where the Greta Thurnbergs have said , we dont want cheap gas. So NY shutsdown nuclear plants, coal plants and electricity is through the roof. Im insulated as I have a gas stove, gas dryer, gas furnace, gas hot water heater, try building new with gas hookups, cant illeagle

The blame for this shutdown is squarely on the Democrats. The Democrats want to add 1.5 trillion in new spending to the continuing resolution or they wont vote for it.
Republicans have voted yes to pass the CR 14 times so far in the last 28 days. Each time the Democrats refused to budge, even just the 10 or so measly votes it needs to be approved.
Chuck Schumer has voted yes for this same exact CR many times, even when Biden was in office.
This is a political stunt devised and implemented by the senate Democrats.
They are counting on the media shills and the uninformed to spread and believe it's Trump's and the GOP's fault.

Perhaps this had something to do with it?

The Constitution Pipeline
The Constitution Pipeline, which was canceled in 2020, was a proposed 124-mile natural gas pipeline from Pennsylvania to New York. The cancellation led to increased natural gas prices in New York and New England, contributing to higher electricity rates. The project faced legal and regulatory challenges, including a water quality certification denial in 2016, which delayed its approval and construction. The cancellation of the Constitution Pipeline has had a significant impact on the region's energy infrastructure and pricing, affecting both natural gas and electricity rates.

And this,
Governor Murphy’s Green New Deal Exacerbates NJ Energy Crisis
August 26, 2025
New Jerseyans are feeling the pain of higher electricity bills. They should blame Governor Phil Murphy and the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (BPU) for inviting this energy crisis.

The BPU was slated to approve a 20% rate hike in June, but delayed the rate hike until September 30. On August 14, the BPU announced a $100 Residential Universal Bill Credit to help lower bills in September and October. This is a way to use taxes to disguise the cost of utility bills, but New Jerseyans are still shouldering these costs.

I rarely discuss politics because it tends to bring out the worst in some people. I honestly believe so much more would get done in this country if we did away with the 2-party system and everybody ran as an Independent. It would eliminate all the constant bickering and playing the blame game by both parties. Sometimes the other party holds out simply for spite which winds up affecting millions of people. I know it will never happen in my lifetime because neither party would ever agree to it.
