Sadly, only three Dems sided with the GOP for the "clean" continuing resolution to keep the government open. That made the vote 5 short of the 60 needed. It's always a gamble for each side when the government shuts down. But this now allows the administration to reduce the size of government even further. This was a bad play for the Dems whichever way they went.

When the Democrats held the majority under President Biden, Congress passed 13 continuing resolutions to keep the government open. There are videos of Sen. Schumer suggesting the government should NEVER shut down no matter the reason. Sadly, he is being "held hostage" by the far left of his party.

Not one penny."  Well Chuck this is not about INSURANCE, it's about how illegal immigrants receive HEALTH CARE! It's all about the "TPS" Temporary Protected Status holders who represent 1.3 MILLION PEOPLE! They are illegal immigrants who can go to a hospital, and the bill will be paid by the FEDERAL Government. Republicans say NO, Democrats say YES. That is what this government shutdown is about!

You are 100% right. There are millions of American children who have food insecurity. Spend that money on our citizens in need. If you want to live here, come in legally. Like my grandparents did.
