Due to an accident that took out several horses in the field, the eighth race on the card was declared a no contest by the judges.
The Meadowlands reported that drivers Brad Chisholm, Brett Beckwith, Joe Bongiorno and Anibal Borjas all got banged up in the spill, but none of them appeared to have sustained major injuries. All horses involved also appeared to be OK, according to The Meadowlands.
I watched the replay and Tennis Queen was leading before the 3/4 and broke, which resulted in the 5 horse running into the back of Borjas driving Tennis Queen and that causes a chain reaction in the following horses. It appeared that Bongiorno was the first to get tossed followed by Beckwith and Chisholm, who seemed to go high in the air. Somehow Beckwith ended up on the track under the bike of the horse he was driving (#2 Katie Cotton got loose without a driver).
Glad to read that all drivers and horses appeared tp be ok!
