Yes, the TVG/FanDuel TV thoroughbred announcers and on-air hosts are going away. [1] (https://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/articles/290866/fanduels-television-phase-out-shocks-racing-industry), [2] (https://x.com/RoushKSR/status/2038632849067098434)Earlier this year, FanDuel announced a complete phase-out of its linear television network (formerly known as TVG). This strategy directly impacts the network's on-air commentary team through a phased wind-down: [1] (https://paulickreport.com/news/the-biz/fanduel-tv-to-be-phased-over-100-jobs-will-be-eliminated-by-end-of-2027), [2] (https://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/articles/290866/fanduels-television-phase-out-shocks-racing-industry), [3] (https://x.com/RoushKSR/status/2038632849067098434)• The Timeline: Over 100 jobs—including the vast majority of on-air talent and studio production staff—are being eliminated. A massive 60% workforce reduction occurred in late June following the Triple Crown and Keeneland coverage. [1] (https://www.facebook.com/groups/952880835245007/posts/2287508835115527/), [2] (https://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/articles/290866/fanduels-television-phase-out-shocks-racing-industry), [3] (https://andrewchampagne.com/2026/06/27/a-eulogy-of-fanduel-tv/)• The "Streaming-Only" Shift: While the live racing video feeds will continue to stream on the FanDuel TV+ app and broadcast through 2027, the network is completely eliminating in-studio commentary, analysis, and live hosts. Essentially, the channel will shift to an unhosted, commercial-style feed of track video. The TVG and FanDuel Racing wagering apps remain completely unaffected and will continue to operate normally. However, some major network shifts are already happening: [1] (https://andrewchampagne.com/2026/06/27/a-eulogy-of-fanduel-tv/)• NYRA and FOX Sports: Entities like the New York Racing Association (NYRA) and FOX Sports are looking to absorb some of the broadcast void. For example, long-time TVG cornerstone Todd Schrupp announced he is joining the NYRA broadcast team. [1] (https://andrewchampagne.com/2026/06/27/a-eulogy-of-fanduel-tv/), [2] (https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/thankful-back-doing-love-todd-231057844.html)• Other hosts are exploring roles at racing networks like RTN (Race Track Chaplaincy / Racing Television Network) or wagering platforms like TwinSpires.
