I am pulling for Big Ranger  tmbz1
Impressive animal watching him in person at Delaware
That was a training mile for him

After how they treated Ronnie Gillespie I would be thrilled if he finished dead last.

Correct me if I'm wrong BUT it seems they always raced it the 2nd week of Grand Circuit and on a Sunday.
I've said it a number of times but they should change the name of the race since they only go one heat.
Insult to the past great champions. 11.wp

They changed it since Labor Day was late this year and it would be right before the Breeders Crown eliminations. Normally I would attend live but they did not move the other races so it is not the same.

That encompasses just about every top 3 yo, so should be a critical race for HOY (which Apex has not wrapped up yet, since this + BC will be factors if he stumbles in both.)

Nix Nacken is a real wild card.  Melander has him and he can run with Apex, except he is a gelding.  Apex is worth $20mm+ if this season works out for him.  Nix Nacken is an aged trotter for the future, perhaps earning $2-$3mm over the next 5 years if he stays healthy.  Clearly it is Melander's interest to see that Nix Nacken doesn't get in Apex's way for the Kentucky Futurity and the BC; sooooooooooo  Just saying.

Race office screwed up Filly Futurity and had to be redrawn. Kicked Ake out of the race.

I often wonder about this. There is no common ownership from what I can tell. Nix seems to be coming into his own at a good time and Melander would have to have some real balls to cheat one owner over the other. Guess there could be a side deal.

As much as I have lost respect for the ownership on Big Ranger, the horse can't help that. He's an impressive horse and while his bloodlines aren't wild, they are a little off the beaten path of the biggest players, which is always nice to see. A big, fluid colt like that could go exceptionally fast down there. He might best them all.

Melander with a six trotter entry in The Futurity, and I think only one (Bartlett) USA driver.
Anyway I think Bartlett is USA born. Maybe Maine?
I am just an old horse trainer still going around in circles. Sometimes Fast. Sometimes Half-Fast.

Your pic is exactly why those with double Amour Angus or Canne Angus can produce brilliance

And here's the REALLY interesting one: Big Ranger

His sire is In Range, whose dam Ilia is by Windsong's Legacy → Conway Hall → Amour Angus.
But Big Ranger's dam Big Blue Bird is by Tactical Landing, out of Swan For All.
And Swan For All is:
Andover Hall → Garland Lobell → Amour Angus
So Big Ranger has Amour Angus on both the sire and dam sides, through two different sons of the Amour Angus family:
Amour Angus → Conway Hall → Windsong's Legacy → Ilia → In Range → Big Ranger
and
Amour Angus → Andover Hall → Swan For All → Big Blue Bird → Big Ranger.
That's a double Amour Angus horse through two separate branches.

His full sister Blue Ranger races on Friday Race 8 at Lexington
