more tracks are raising the minimum bet on certain wagers like WPS,exacta and some of the multi leg stuff what do you other players think?
the higher the minimum-the higher the median payoff due to the dime players would be reluctant to play so many combinations if the min was higherunlike the casino industry which makes a large percentage of profits off penny slot players---the tracks don't make much off these dime and 20 cent players-so they are trying to encourage them to bet more i firmly believe the min should be at least $1 on every pool to eliminate the dreamers and the ALL players-or make them put their big boy pants on and play those combinations for a dollarjmo
Makes no sense to me. If they want to bet any amount, they can, but if you raise it to levels that somecan't/won't = loss of potential handle. Like the $5 late doubles. $3 late p3. One again if people want tobet that or more , they can. By setting those higher minimums they run off potential betters. Like you saidSweet, they are in no position to turn away bets. Of course , that's IF they actually care.
Only problem with the $1 minimum, it would cause some bettors to eliminate some horses in the Pick 4 or Pick 5 because the ticket would be too expensive unless you have a big bankroll. I rarely play superfectas, and once again a $1 minimum would change my wager to a trifecta instead.
my counter to that mindset is that those who prefer not to play a more expensive ticket is to go elsewhere and gamblemaybe church bingo or play penny slots with their casino members card and sit and wait to accumulate enough wager rewards points for a discount at the buffetthere is a reason the superfecta on The Kentucky Derby is $1allowing a 10 cent or 20 cent min isn't fair to the players who take it seriously and just don't blindly wheel or box a hundred combinationsagain jmo
If it's the track you prefer to play why would or should I go elsewhere. People only have so much money to gamble with and tracks should cater to everybody not just certain people. I think it's only an experiment anyway and wonder what kind of feedback they're getting.
those people need to bring a bigger bankroll or play leess combinationsit is similar to walking into a casino to play blackjack and then get flabbergasted when they find the lowest min table is $25if catering to everyone is paramount-then why not make all wagers a penny?
I'm not a casino person and find it laughable some casinos have penny slots. Once again, size of bankroll and cost of wager can cause you to miss hitting a nice ticket because you had to eliminate some horses you might have used if the minimum was lower. JMO
get rid of the $.10 /$.20 wagers completely which would hopefully create more carryoversjust do something like this min wager on ex, tri , pick 3, dd is $1.00min wager on pick 4 is $.50min wager on supers, high 5 , pick 5(and higher) is $.20its a start
Obviously the 10 and 20 cent wagers cater to the smaller bettor who likes to spread out their combinations, which in most cases eliminates the potential for a high payoff but it keeps them in action.
