Who cares what they handle?  The product being put out on a Saturday night is laughable.  BigM is the Mecca of nothing anymore.  They have a couple good cards a year and lost one of those.  Fuck the Meadowlands!  I've started to love betting Saratoga T-breds.  Might have to make a trip up there next summer.   tmbz1

Who cares what they handle??? That’s asinine comment. Meadowlands operates without a Casino—yet still outhandles 3 tracks  combined totals and they HAVE a Casino. True the quality of horses has declined—but that’s across the board. Gamblers like the Big M-as long as fields are competitive-it makes for a acceptable wagering product. I see Tbreds all the time—cheap claimers outhandle the better class horses at other tracks .Yonkers could take a note about racing on Saturday afternoon instead of at night—very poor decision. They lose overseas viewers and have to compete with more racing all over the country on a Saturday after noon. That’s why Meadowlands is smart racing on Friday and Saturday nights—gets the most viewers.

Harness racing completely failed for the gambler that organically sustained it.

Even winter racing in favorable climates, finished.

HR makes the point to the racing executives...I'm not quitting, and next year I commit...those are huge words.

Unfortunately the grass is not greener.

The drugs and corruption have to stop, regulatory ain't doing their job anytime soon, I wouldn't stand in the way of vigilante justice for those that INSIDE TRADE & MANIPULATE, corrupt our market, would you?

If Gural gets his casino and decoupling happens in NY, PA, Ohio, the industry is being called like a freshly deceased corpse.

T-bred is next to head the way of the harness racing dodo bird.  Strung together globally cohesively but the shit show will rear its head at some point if the bs doesn't stop.

Evolution  ;D

If it is smart for Meadowlands to race on Friday and Saturday NIGHTS  because of more viewers, then why was and has been the Hambo card in the afternoon?
Handle doesn't mean as much as ya think when almost half of it is CAW.
It wouldn't matter what time Yonkers raced
Its a corrupt cesspool with a shitty racing product

I forgot how smart you are.  That handle you speak of is from a very minor percentage of bettors.  CAW's inflate it significantly!  The average bettor such as myself, and most likely everyone else on this board are getting screwed with the late odds shifts.  All the late bets getting jammed through at the last second has made the BigM a bad play for the average guy.  Harness in general offers the bettors an inferior product.  I usually only play harness anymore on stakes cards.

The Hambo must be run during daylight hours.

Very good question.

Answer in short according to all the involved powers to be...

"Contract Rule: The agreement between event organizers (Hambletonian Society) and host tracks explicitly specifies a daylight start. National Television: An afternoon slot fits prime national sports windows on networks like Fox Sports, maximizing reach.Tradition and Atmosphere: Day racing sets a festive gala environment with trackside activities, hat contests, and family events rather than a routine night program.Global Wagering: Afternoon pacing aligns better with international broadcast and commingled wagering schedules, particularly for European fans following the sport."

"The Hambletonian Society requires the Hambletonian to run during the day because it is written into the event's official contract and tradition. While regular harness racing at venues like The Meadowlands happens at night, the Hambletonian stands apart as an exclusive afternoon showcase."

Big M is working on your problem.
While the Big M management publicly announced plans to block Computer-Assisted Wagering groups from betting into the win pools within two minutes of post time, they have faced complex infrastructure roadblocks:
System Integration Issues: Track officials confirmed they hit significant "bumps in the road" trying to get their totalizator provider, BetMakers, to successfully configure the automated lockout system.
Regulatory Delays: The track is still actively working alongside the New Jersey Racing Commission (NJRC) to clear the administrative and procedural hurdles required to enforce a hard automated cutoff.
Contrasting with Thoroughbreds: Unlike The Meadowlands, which is still trying to get the tech online, the New York Racing Association (NYRA) successfully adhered to a 2-minute win pool lockout and aggressively expanded their rules to strictly throttle all other pools to a maximum of six bets per second once the countdown hits the final minutes.
The Meadowlands remains committed to getting the 2-minute restriction fully operational to eliminate the late odds drops that infuriate their core players. However, the software realities of handling high-speed data streams mean a functional, strict stoppage is not yet fully executed at their wagering windows.
There are 2 tracks that restrict CAW wagering—and has resulted in more on track handle.
Del Mar and Santa Anita (California): Following the successful blueprint mapped out by New York, California’s premier circuits enacted strict rules barring CAW players from making win bets inside two minutes to post. The decision followed immense public backlash over eye-watering, last-second odds crashes during major summer meets.
The New York Racing Association (NYRA): NYRA remains the absolute gold standard for aggressive restriction. Beyond their original 2-minute win pool ban, they completely barred CAWs from high-value multi-race exotics like the Late Pick 5 and Pick 6. They also introduced a hard 1-minute cutoff across almost all other exotic pools, forcing robotic syndicates to throttle down to human speeds (maximum 6 bets per second) if they want to wager late.

Pocono.    so so      tough to bet

Meadowlands.        Best for wagering in Harness Racing

Mohawk                 Tough track to beat

Yonkers                  Jury is Out...Bettable

Kentucky Tracks       Great for owners.

Most are unbettable.

Ohio.   Grade B but decent

Illinois       Out of Business

The "Society" has rules that stipulate it must be on a two turn oval and it must be raced in the afternoon

they usually race vs Whitney Day at Saratoga and be better if they changed the rules to race night
