Like I posted on another thread, Campbell wanted the GM job when he retired from driving but Gural didn't oblige. This is just a revengeful payback on Campbell's part.

He's not the be all end all Mike. NJ is dead, Jeff tried the squeeze play and it backfired. A 1.3 million drop in handle on that card since last year? 6.1 total for 16 races??? On their biggest day? That's only double what they called a break even overnights card. Nobody outside the business is watching or wagering. The last of the loyal bettors dies off every day. Did you really watch the production? It was painful, they couldn't even get the damn sound right. The remote cams and mics were clipping and blacking out. This is the best of harness racing? Come on, be realistic.

I have lost a great deal of respect for Campbell. Probably 40% of his lifetime earnings came from the Meadowlands.
