It will be interesting watching Tom Merton race 1 on odds on favorite #2. Very untrustworthy on big chalk. But this horse looks pretty unbeatable.

Sat behind Andrew H and his buddies for many years. Friendly enough to me. He would often track odds changes by scrawling changes in his program. Today, with CAWs, or at least drastic odds changes in the last minutes, that idea might not have been as fruitful. But he had, let’s say, some influence on some of the races, eh?

Yep, when Dennis fawcett, Merton and young Ricco got booted they were caught taking $$$ from Andrew. He claomed it was just a loan. They were tossed he wasnt

I saw a very young George Brennan visiting AH in his box, before he was exiled and I believe continued his career in Maine. Don’t forget that Ron Fawcett was a frequent visitor, plus one guy, not a horseman, who one time either sniffed coke or something similar, right there, to AH’s displeasure.
I had a cheap mare racing one day as the favorite- I remember her name and the catch-driver, whom I won’t name( he’s still active). When my mare, the favorite, finished off the board, AH turned to me and said, and I quote” you know, that race was fixed”. I wasn’t surprised about the news, only couldn’t figure out why he would tell me.
Finally, a good filly I co-owned won a NYSS at another track, beating, among others, one of his. We were both there, in those days before simulcasting. First person to turn and congratulate me was AH.
