Dexter is at Scioto
I am just an old horse trainer still going around in circles. Sometimes Fast. Sometimes Half-Fast.

Not important enough to have a story about the elim finishes, still nothing on USTA

Loua Dipa raced well

normally she would have just sat the pocket and the finish would have been much closer

Wrenn pulled pocket to allow TT to come up cones with Frantic Hanover-another Burke entry-so he could also make the Final

intentional pocket pull with no intent to win the race--over all a solid effort by the filly still only beaten one length

she fits and that why they raced her against the boys

Here let me write the story...

1st elim...

OOMM schooled the w2w and though showing win by a neck, no one was catching that sob.  Flawless drive by JMac keeping the horse content under a stranglehold the whole race.  Horse has mega sh!t in the tank for the finals.

2nd elim...

Rabbit No Waitlist set the stage for a brush and all out win under wraps for equine terrorist Al Papi, Melillo looked great coming home for second.  Unfortunately both colts blew their 3 yo old loads all over Washington, Pa, track custodians are still squeegeeing up their jizz  ngc3 so they're done and done in the winning time of 147 2/5.

Final, since OOMM kept a couple seconds in the tank in his 149 2/5 easy romp, let's hand him the trophy now.  ngc3

Until next time....!  ;D

In your mind, since you're capable of reading Ronnie Wrenn's mind, he had no intent on winning the race even though the elimination winners get to pick their post in the finals, nice try, but I'm not buying it. He was trying to win but wasn't good enough.

if he was trying to win he would have sat in the pocket instead of letting his team mate qualify for the Final

Your theory is based on him pulling to the outside rather than waiting for the passing lane. Sitting in the 2 hole at the top of the stretch some drivers would come to the outside while others would wait for the passing lane. It's true, if you choose to come to the outside, you're helping out the horse sitting behind you, and I've gotten beaten many times by drivers doing it. In an elimination for a big race like this the goal is to worry about yourself first and make the finals, when you start playing around bad things can happen. Wrenn is not going to blame games with Burke's best horse and risk losing his account.

You can think whatever you want but Wrenn didn't go into the race to help Frantic Hanover make the finals, which he would have no chance of winning. If he did, and instead of finishing 4th, he didn't make the finals he'd be in hot water with Burke.

Learn the game.  Wrenn is trying to catch a horse who regularly paces 25 and 25 second final quarters. He is not going to wait like Palone trying to pass som claimer.

As far as next week going, Al Papi went a monster mile in the Pace as did Melillo. Both raced in a distance race before that. They are both as tight as they will be. If Papi Rob Hanover had not been injured, Tall Dark Stranger would not have been horse of the year that year.

Burke wants his filly to win the race.

Missed them both because I was at Scioto. Just watched the replays
We are in for a great final next week.
These were just elims..don't get caught up reading to much into it when the ultimate goal is just to qualify for the final.
6 of the horses in the elims could win the final
If I had to choose a winner it'd be OOMM
Lou Dipa, Frantic, AL Papi,Melillo, or Sweet Lovin Lou all could win.
I don't think that was Lou Dipa's best effort. She is capable of going faster
Sweet Lovin Lou is battle tested and had to deal with post 8. Never underestimate Scotty Z in a big race at probably close to 10-1
Al Papi is rounding into serious form.. he benefited off wicked fractions.
Yannick will try to gun him to the lead that's his style obviously
Frantic closed the best after leaving hard in his elim
That race looked easy for OOMM. He should have some serious juice left in the tank for next week and he looked comfortable on the smaller track
