The Adios? Grade 1 ?
« on: July 18, 2026, 06:33:21 AM »
The Adios may have been a top tier race 40 years ago...

but is more like a Grade 2 Event and that is being generous.

First of all..."The Meadows" is a Tier 2 track

with Tier 2 and 3 drivers...

This years race is so poor ...fillies are entering

and just may beat all the "Stallions"

Filly is 2-1 Fav to win the Adios.

Weak Field....Where is Brandon and Beau?

Where is  Dexter Dunn?

Burke 5 entries????  Gimme a freakin break.

To the Adios.......I will just say....

                     "Adios"

There are a number of reasons for this:
1) The abandonment of heat racing.  Now every event takes two or three weeks to context (eliminations, final, week off). The Meadows had to change the traditional date of the race to fit this into the schedule.
2) The sire stakes especially in Ohio and KY. Horses can earn substantial purse money racing mainly in sire stakes.  Duel eligibility in KY has made this even more significant.
3) The Meadows itself. The Meadows does not care about racing. They race when most people in prime earning years cannot go or even wager. Adios week was once loaded with races for the best horses. As soon as the Adios is contested next week, all of the top drivers will leave immediately to get to the Meadowlands for Hambo eliminations.

This is Burke's home track so he likes to win this race and he like to race in the Jug.

Burke said this is the best filly he has ever trained. This race may determine if she ever races against the top colts.

Though I agree the Adios has lost some luster and yes I guess it shouldn't be Grade 1, which is a weak
attempt to emulate T-Breds anyway, I disagree about the race this year. I really think once they shave off the lesser
horses today [They'll be a surprise or two that don't make it] it sets up to be a damn good race next week.

I turned on the broadcast. The announcer said the drivers have travel issues. Gringras is expected for race 6.

Didn't expect him to leave. With open draw , still surprised. Needed the start, Had the 1 in the double for a shot.
The filly 'might' need to stick to her kind. Time will tell. Go NO WAITLIST tmbz1

Too much for my horse sadly. Got 5th. Will be a huge speed factor at least if he makes the final.
Disappointing to say the least. Fabulous looking horse regardless. 53.1 last half. Boy what a terrible
bunch this year huh Capt? ;D

I liked Mamba Man with his 49:3 win over the winner

of the 2nd division with a 1:47:2?

Times only mean something when you are in jail.

2/5 shot got brave off a 25 second first 1/4 cut by

a no shot longshot...then finished well.

Why put a filly in this race against colts??

Odds On Mr Mamba    6    1/1H    1/1Q    1/1H    1/1    1/NK   1:49.3    27.2   ----Loua Dipa was 4th as well so Burke was over confident with her to supplement.

Burke always sings high praises for his horses, it's at his home track, and what's $35,000 to them, chump change.

i dont think she was supplemented, she was eligible to the filly race. Loua Dipa didnt race badly and the whole point is to win next week. She want catching Mamba and she finished 4th but it was less than a length.  Why not see how she rates with the boys. With a good post next week and with a bunch of Burke horses in the final, she could be right there. AI Papi and Melillo raced huge again and I think they are the bigger threats to Mamba who I will easily bet against next week

what a waste of money on No Waitlist, horse isnt that good and has never proven anything why would they think they can just bottom a field out like that
