Oak Grove 6th race
« on: June 01, 2026, 05:03:54 PM »
Tetrick wins and gets placed last (5th)

made a break on the gait, came back down trotting 10 lengths behind in the first turn

He comes down for not losing ground?  He lost 10 lengths in the first 1/8th mile...how much did he need to lose?

Who's the presiding judge at this hillbilly track?

When he first broke he galloped for more than 5 seconds and wasn't losing that much ground. They DQ'd him for an unrestrained run.

Total bullshit. Tetrick broke grabbed him behind all horses won the race. The judges are assholes and should be fired. Not that the race matters for me  but a horrible call. What else can you do if you break. You take back to last. If I’m owner of that horse I’d be standing right in front of the judges office

It was an awful call.  What should he have done. He did everything right. He broke took back to last stayed last til 3/4 pole won the race   Should he have just pulled up and drove back to the barn.  He did everything right period.

They should do like some of the tracks overseas. If you break, you are out. Takes it out of the judges hands.

My guess if that was a Burke horse they would have made the right call. Terrible placing.

Google harness racing rules in Kentucky for a breaking horse and Tim tetrick did everything right period. Read what it says

I read the rules yesterday and agree Tetrick did everything right, however part of the time he was off stride he was barely losing ground. The judges felt as long as he was off stride he should have lost more ground.
I saw the same thing happen at The Meadows a long time ago, a horse broke early in the race, was off stride at least 10 seconds, came back and won but was DQ'd for not losing enough ground while on a break. In the rules for a breaking horse it says, a horse may be disqualified and placed last for an extended break which is exactly what happened yesterday.

The chart of the race shows  XXX.
Horses expend less energy running as opposed to trotting.
The longer they run the less energy they use compared to those on the trot.
Even if they loose ground they saved energy for when they finally hit the trot.
That is part of the reason an extended run is DQ.
I am just an old horse trainer still going around in circles. Sometimes Fast. Sometimes Half-Fast.
