We need fixed odds ....NOW
« on: May 16, 2026, 11:28:54 PM »
Race 12 at md
6 goes to the gate even money
Goes off 1 to 5.
Thats 80% less expected value for a gambler
This is on a Saturday night at the mecca meadowlands

And we wonder why the sport is dying. No one is going to bet real money getting an 80% less return than expected

Fixed odds aren't that hard i dont get why no one sees how this is such an easy fix.

I'm taking about an 80% differential guy..
10 to 20 percent is one thing
This is 4x as bad
And such an easy fix

I've been posting for a while about this at b tracks
Never expected 80% changes at meadowlands on a Saturday night

All the problems this sport has pail in comparison to this one
People  bet millions on lottery with a 50% take out, all because they know the payoff. People will bet millions on anything as long as they know the payoffs. People aren't going to bet serious money with this high a fluctuation on return.

New Jersey does have fixed odds wagering on certain tracks, but you have to be in NJ to wager.

If your bets are sharp, the tracks will severely limit you at first then eventually ban you from fixed odds wagering. What would you do then? Lottery?
Pari mutual is the absolute best part of horse gambling
CAWs are what destroyed it.

If a track is smart they can use the sharps wisely like books have done for years amd adjust the odds if needed

The value of sharp intel,as you described, is not nearly high enough for a track to keep the sharp on their books. There aren't any legal books left who allow unrestricted sharp sports action.

Any horseplayer who wants a change over to fixed odds has to realize it's a short term play and understand that they will be out of action long term.

In every jurisdiction on earth, books have limited, then banned sharp horse action. So much so that there are Minimum Bet Laws in place in places like Australia where the government has stepped in and forced the books to accept specified minimum bets from the sharps. However, eventually books are able to terminate the sharps there over time.
