Top American Jockeys Cockfighting Scandal

Here is the video evidence...

https://x.com/Jackpotkimm/status/2055017726255530150

"In November 2025, a video surfaced on X appearing to show Jose Ortiz and Irad Ortiz Jr. collecting cash off the pit floor at Club Gallistico de Naguabo, a cockfighting venue in Puerto Rico. Two of the top jockeys in American racing, in a cockfighting ring, in a jurisdiction where it is a federal crime."

" Not just any federal felony, one involving the torture and abuse of animals and illegal gambling."

Original Story -

"Kentucky Derby winning jockeys, MLB pitcher tied to illegal cockfighting in Puerto Rico"

https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/horseracing/2026/05/14/jose-ortiz-irad-ortiz-jr-edwin-diaz-illegal-cockfighting/90046603007/

So if no one official is taking action (yet?) against them it's ended up in the court of public opinion.  What seemingly makes these jockeys so competitive, so driven, the racetrack, is not enough apparently and they're knee deep back in their roots with this horror.

I went to see cockfighting once in the Philippines, the farmers take a lot of pride in raising them. It’s not for me, it’s a brutal sport.

Cockfighting which very well might be a part of some culture is a horrible act. I'm disgusted that the Ortiz brothers are involved in this.

He lost almost $100 million dollars from his NFL contract with the Falcons. They really made an example out of him.

Tell us the real reason for visiting Phil

Involves cock I bet, but no fighting I'm sure.

Obv they would be proud of their stock- it's how they make a living.
Life is alot cheaper down there for humans.
Animals are a viable option to feed a family.
You should have stayed in school & got a job.

Riders and Drivers who are caught up in gambling stings should be monitored closely by their racing jurisdictions to be sure that they are not paying gambling debts by "Favors " on the track! IMO!
