Can you imagine these fuckers walk out, clean it up, keep it tight, and return.

Could be a cleaner product than t-bred racing.

The amount of press all over the country.

The doors could re-open to find everyone from the common horseplayer to the wall street type, to people actually socializing and gambling at the track, taking a date.

Why not invest in a horse, luck in the genetic draw, the best horsemen and driver match.

GP brought in $48.5 million in wagers last Saturday.

$10,000,000 or so in straight up profit including food and drinks.

Not bad for an 8 hour shift.

But you're right, they lost control, they're silent to take a stand, and just hoping they're not the next domino.

Even if they cleaned up the product it won't bring many new fans. For the most part, people who go to or used to go to the racetrack are older people who continue to die and are not being replaced. Younger people would rather bet on sports or be in fantasy leagues. Can you imagine trying to explain to a younger person how to read a program or the racing form. You'd either put them to sleep or get nothing but blank stares.

You make it sound as they have to do one and not the others.

Harness racing is more casual, a few hours out alone or with friends.

They jerk it to ai created images, they may need a push away from what they're doing....I resist online porn for that reason, I'd never be able to look at my penis again knowing I shot a load from fake porn... ngc3

You may be right but huge press, would likely draw people on re-opening day, marketing needs to keep them.  Their job.

A friend owns a pool hall asked me and another which video games he should buy, wtf do we know 40 years ago we played Galaga (pinball before that).  He laughed, made fun, talked about 3-d games with all kinds of state of the art sound...he bought a bunch of this expensive shit but for a giggle to make fun of us more bought this antique of a game.

It's his best money maker.  ;D

How about a newbie goes to the track, watches a race, enjoys it. Asks his friend "when's the next one?" and the answer is 30 minutes. Bye-bye Newbie.

1981 AFC Playoff game Cincy vs SD. Sunday -59 wind chill. The day before Lebanon
right near Cincy raced a double-header. They're racing at Miami and Nfld.
I did like how Settlemoir was quoted as consulting Ford about it. I'm sure he could
have offered up some 'Ways' to keep to keep the horses 'Warm'. ;D

There must be some other form of motivation as to why they would cxl simply because of old temps. What about the owners that pay big bucks for the upkeep of their horses that need to race to stay in the game? Show/ice is a reason to cxl to keep all parties safe but cold temps makes no sense.
A poor decision by the gm.

I agree that there is no future for our sport.
So wouldnt it be nice for harness racing  to go out with some dignity, and not sink to the level of the worst cheaters?
I'm sure that there are trainers doing what they know is wrong and unsafe and would prefer not to be doing it but they feel they have to to keeo up with the cheats...

Anticipated temp for post time on Sunday in East Rutherford is 21 degrees. They raced last Saturday night in the low teens. I hate conspiracy theories, and I hope I'm wrong, but don't be surprised if the purse money saved from the loss of these "cheaper horse" cards, wind up as higher purses in the spring and summer when the bigger stables - the usual suspects - are more involved. I'm not blaming the track. Horseman's organizations primarily represent the blue bloods interests. Money goes to money...

The last years of Pompano Park Raceway were a disgrace...

Few miles away from me, might as well been on Mars.
I’m not sure what sucked. The betting pools were good, the weather was great and I enjoyed the racing.
