Not necessarily true, real gamblers are out to make money, fans are mostly small bettors who rarely gamble.
Exactly, Pacer 2 is a fucking idiot...

Fans, gamblers, all semantics. Personally, as far as live/on-track, I think virtually everyone who actually goes to the Meadowlands, are there to gamble. I think there are very, very few real fans. I think there are also very, very few people who go there for a night out, entertainment, or whatever else; and those very few that do go for that, most do not return.

Maybe "all" gamble, but there are differences-----real, hard-core gamblers, who are profit-motivated and someone who is more a fan of the sport, and yes, they gamble, but it might be for some fun, entertainment, etc. I know some serious players, pro's, who are also fans of the sport. So what. Doesn't matter. I like what was announced, especially the new NJSS second-tier program.

  • dougie: IIB, I think the mayor will sign the bill if it reaches his desk. The optics on this issue is bad for the horse carriage industry. Animal activists are adept to using the media to enlist horror and anger by the public.

  • Ignorance Is Bliss: It's now a bill with city council. Public hearings will be scheduled then the council votes on it. If passed it's sent to the Mayor to sign into law. He has already said he's in. Marte just took over, Bob Holden is the actual author of the bill who retired last year.

  • dougie: IIB, I have been reading some of the work Councilman Marte has been doing on this issue. I think he might be successful with passing the 'Ryders Law" Bill this time around. The image of the horse dead on the street has even been seen here everywhere. If the animal activists can get this on the ballot, who knows how the vote will go.
