i used to go to the races nightly in chicago when the sport was still relevant in this city....regarding Tony's driving - his skills were the best i've ever seen from anyone that drove regularly on our circuit - and we've had some great drivers here in chicago.....he was more impressive than paisley, dave magee, tim tetrick, ron marsh, andy miller just to name a few...his race strategy was second to no one...watching him rate a horse first over was an absolute thing of beauty...it was awesome to watch this guy display his craft on a nightly basis...just a phenomenal talent he had as a driver...regarding his training and horsemanship - first. if he catch drove your horse. he would always come back to the connections and suggest changes to make to help your horse...i can't tell you how many trainers had compliments for Morgan for being able to help in this way...countless times i've heard trainers say what an amazing horsemen he was...regarding his own stable? it always seemed he had someone else down for the horses he trained on his own...i know everyone's gonna say he did that so he could cheat...i'm not gonna accuse him of that because i don't know for sure...what i do know is Morgan made a lot of guys the number one trainer during chicago race meets...i.e. bret schulz...and another one i distinctly remember...dennis henert....when denny henert was on his own he was about a 2 or 3 percent winner...with Morgan he won a hawthorne trainer title...congrats on 18 thousand tony,,,through it all one thing is for sure...he's one of the best horsemen ever in the sport of harness racing...
