weg /mohawk stupidity
« on: August 23, 2025, 10:37:33 AM »
we all know these are not the brightest folks, never have been
nepotism runs rampant
now maybe i am making too much of this but to me it is systematic of bigger issues at play
Friday night they had a carryover of $55,000 into the early pick 5 starting in race 1
that's a  pretty big deal  and having it carryover from the night before into a busy Friday stakes card is as good as it gets , they had all day Friday to promote this big carryover which we know gamblers love

i saw nothing on standardbred canada
hpi bet has my email as they send me other nonsense, never got an email or text from them promoting the carryover
do they have any social media that they could have promoted this on
please, correct me on any of the above if i missed and am incorrect

yes they did $285 k on it but think how much more if they promoted properly, i am sure there are some t bred bettors who if they knew of it wold have jumped in, did weg send anything or promote this to their tbred bettors ???

fyi, it paid awesome for the horses that came in, only tough one was the last race  2yr old maiden trot so most would stretch in that race for sure

Why putting blame on Standardbred Canada and not the track itself?

They missed a big opportunity by not promoting the P5 c/o.
I didn't know there was one until rn. I went to various SM platforms and searched using different wording and only could find 3 posts about it, none of which were posted by the track or any official.
Good catch Jug.

they have a publicity department or social media person?

I think not

they probably weren't even aware they had a carryover

I did not know there was one either.. I definitely would of handicapped it and fired a wager in. One of a thousand problems with a dying sport that we love.

Same JT and it's sad because most of the issues they could change easily, but choose not to.

If you have an HPI account, you can check the box that alerts you to carryovers.

mwins you are correct, i am aware of that box
but i think we would all agree the track/weg etc should have been proactive
not hope people think to randomly look and see if there is a carryover

WEG does a good job of putting on the races but there administrative function is not good. They sold seats for a Breeders Crown which did not exist and they closed the refreshmand stands half way through the first nigh card.
