Funny, knowledgeable, passionate harness guy. Deserves the attention, especially at that
track, where it is my understanding he went to great lengths to help draw attention to it.

Anyone remember the harness show Marty used to do with Earl Lennox? They’d show Marty driving at a B track etc. gotta be 35-40 years ago now.

I did see a couple of the Canadian broadcasts of the LBJ that he and Earl did. Good team.

Adler Day at Leamington..for sure
(Saluting his work with Windsor and Hazel Park too would be nice too). Sharp harness fan and multi-level participant,,terrific horse showman inc local CBC sportscaster in Windsor too. Loved the horse game and many in it.

So many stories:
I worked one season upstairs with announcer Marty at Windsor Raceway Sun. nights early 80s. Learned lots inc the value of pretaped  Marty 'time countdown announcements' like "Three minutes to post time, three..Dont get shut out"
If you remember words like those you knew you were at Windsor..also gave Marty chance to wager..and wager.

Lots of wagers, inc running the Windsor-Detroit Sunday NFL pool with big fold out cardboard chart with many many notable names in u.s. media and horse circles..good clean fun.
*a second tv set in his announce booth tuned to last seconds of NFL doubleheaders, often right at 7pm, co-inciding with first post Sun nights at Windsor. He'd be checking off lots of right or wrong NFL picks, often as the horses would gather in front, before launching down the 5/8th backstretch. He was a classic multi-tasker. Loved it.

The coup de grace, this one in a Leamington Raceway race..his entry was one of four horses still in following a scratch.
Somehow, someway he ends up second BUT placed fourth for interference. Gotta ask, how many have you seen interference in a cheap four horse race? I remember saying to a friend, ill bet Marty did that on purpose to get attention. Wouldnt surprise. lol.

Anyway..stories are legion. He was one of a kind inc his 'use of cardboard and paper props' to give you his on-camera tv picks. A throwback and also modern and also full value all at same time. Such a showman and character and also a fair and often caring person.

Those who knew him knew this guy was someone on a 'whole different level'. Enjoy Leamington Sunday event.

Think it was Win Place Show on TSN.  I was a wee little mite back then.  Did meet Earl when he had a few horses with Joe
Hudon.
