Here is a trivia question that brings back memories for me.....

Nihilator had 35 wins in 38 career races

can you name the three horses who won those races that he lost?

one is obvious-the other two-not so much

Mikeyo should surely get this

the 3rd horse to my trivia question is mentioned during this race call

I was a little bit off--he was 34/1

Did you ever go to Atlantic City Race Course in the early 70's!
It was a great place to race.
Haughton, Dancer, Miller, ETC sent their two year olds there from Pompano. Lots of barns, green grass, and a good track kitchen where everyone went for breakfast.
I am just an old horse trainer still going around in circles. Sometimes Fast. Sometimes Half-Fast.

just before my time

my father started taking me to the AC track(tbreds) the year after the GSP fire(another "I was there")--around 1977

the south jersey scene was rapidly changing as casinos just started at Resorts International

we had Keystone Racetrack in the winter and night time tbreds in the summer--even saw a few Jersey Derbies there(daytime cards)--well waited for the new Garden State Park to be built--which it was in 1984(opening night was the night Villanova beat Georgetown in the NCAA title game)-but turned out to be a big flop, built by con artist Robert Brennan whose ITB way overspent-and the tbreds failed soon after-but not after bringing us Spend A Buck--harness racing was a success there, only about a 15 minute drive from my parents house-i was there every night--.. saw Nihilator, Mack Lobell, Flak Bait, and many more famous horses... the March of Dimes trot--featuring Mack, Ourasi and the winner Sugarcane Hanover

so I was a tad young to see live harness racing at the AC track

my first trip to a harness track was Liberty Bell around 1977 and in the winter we would do double-headers-Keystone during the day, dinner then Liberty Bell at night which was about 3 miles away--one of my first trips I saw Meadow Blue Chip-one of the first really good mares for the Blue Chip guys

I will never forget those cold Sunday nights at Liberty Bell--where I first fell in love with a speed horse named My Bill Forwood-who would dominate our Preferred pace then go back to YR/RR after he was kicked out for being too dominant at LB

those were the days-great memories

Thanks for sharing!
By the late 70's I was back in the mid-west raising a family, training horses, and doing a little farming on the family farm.
I won with the last three horse I drove at Liberty Bell. 1973

Stabled at Liberty Bell for several years. I loved it there. I had a great apartment across the street on Wood Haven Blvd called The Post and Paddock. One of my helmets is probably still hanging at The Eddington House if it still exists.

The last I heard the Eddington is still there.

I loved that place. Ex Philly cop was one of the bartenders there. Great guy. If Liberty Bell didn't shut down, I would still be living in Bensalem.

I lived in Bensalem for 1 year--1993 long after Liberty Bell was gone

I could walk to Parx it was about one mile away

I haven't been down that way since Liberty Bell closed. I know the Franklin Mall is where the track was. I'm assuming Parx is the old Keystone Track over on Street Road, near Neshaminy Mall

yes correct

Keystone became Philadelphia Park then Parx

owned by Armenians--the have a big tax loophole going--where they own their own mortgage under another company--pay themselves $1 off the principle every year but must pay huge interest loan percentage(to themselves) and take advantage of some type of tax write-off ..somehow legal

the building was constructed 1974 or so a lot of asbestos was used-way before the Armenians bought the place--and the asbestos is why they wont tear it down and downsize and modernize the facility--it would all be very costly

they have a nice casino next door

I have a lot of fond memories in the  late 70s when it was Keystone when Jack Lamar was the race caller there and Liberty Bell-some great doubleheaders

I'm old enough to have seen T-Breds at Liberty Bell.

my father told me about that-- I was very young

they had an "Eagles Downs" meet and a "Continental" meet

I suppose separate entities were running the races
