East Rutherford, NJ –Total handle on the 16-race Hambletonian Day card Saturday at The Meadowlands totaled $7,464,087, up slightly over 2024, when $7.427 million was pushed through the windows in North America.

“And after the foreign entities are added to the total, our Hambletonian Day handle figures to be in excess of $8 million for a fourth straight year,” said Big M Chief Operating Officer and General Manager Jason Settlemoir.

A crowd of 17,696 jammed into the mile oval as on-track betting totaled $851,826, an increase over last year of 8.2 percent.

“Great weather and the usual great Hambletonian Day card led to a big day of wagering on-site,” said Settlemoir. “We appreciate our faithful fans, and, of course our horsemen and staff for putting on another great show.”

without network tv coverage--Gural would have dragged the living shit out of the 16 races and it would be from 12:20 PM-start ending around 10 PM

handle would have been even higher

the race should be moved to night time for prime time tv

I do not think the Hambo can be raced at night.

They won't move it to night because it will hurt the on-track attendance, plus it's harder to see Settlemoir's fake blonde hair at night and it might be past Gural's bedtime.

The Open and the Oaks will be raced over the mile track at The Meadowlands (“Track”), East Rutherford, N.J., as awarded by The Hambletonian Society (“Society”). Both the final races (“Final”) of the Open and the Oaks will be raced during daylight hours on the same day.

ok thanks-did not know of a daylight rule

they should push the envelope and have it as the last race of the day around 7-7:30 PM

As Gural said yeaterday, the place is such a failure that he will close the doors immediately if the casino fails the next vote.

They have no consideration of spending time or money or hiring the right people to improve things otherwise.

I don't think its a lock that the referendum even makes it to the ballot, let alone getting enough votes to pass

I chuckled when he admitted yesterday that this was really "the first year" he is actually losing money because he didn't know he was required to share some of the sports books profits with Monmouth

he has been crying poor mouse for a decade and also admitted without the sportsbook-they would have stopped racing about 5 years ago

Do they still have the clown on the unicycle riding in between the crowd on Hambo day?
