its embarrassing for the sport that a $227K race on the premier track in the country on Hambo Day can only attract 6 horses

I also dont like the idea of them throwing those shitty 3 lower level 3 yo trot and f trot races onto the card..would rather see conditioned races

As I said in another thread.. the Cane is a Grade 2 with the new system. That'd be like The Preakness being a Grade 2 race. What a joke. I understand why there's only 6 horses, some of the best have raced 4 straight weeks with the Pace and Adios.. but it's still pathetic.  Also the purse is way to small. There is also the state fair stakes in Ohio this weekend and on Saturday race 9 one division for 3 year old colt pacers that has Rick Wink and Swingtown in it. Nice cards at Scioto Friday and Saturday

If you buy an Ohio bred colt you aren’t staking to the Cane Pace. This just a weak pacing group this year colts and fillies. Other than the Derby the thoroughbreds have small fields in their triple crown races with a lot fillers.

I guess my point is that there will be more eyeballs on The Meadowlands on Saturday because of the Hambletonian then any other day of their racing calendar
The Cane is a triple crown race and should be featured as well. If the purse was $500,000 instead of $225,000 there would be more entries.

Does anyone really care about the Triple Crown in harness racing.  Just enjoy the day Saturday, who cares how many horses are in the Cane.  When I look at some of the top stakes races for the thoroughbreds, a lot of 5 and 6 horses fields.

absolutely means nothing-nobody cares

the unofficial Triple Crown is the NA Cup, M1 Pace and Jug--and not too many care about that either

as far as the title of the thread-other than two divisions of the Muscle Hill--there are no split divisions of anything
