Burke Brigade...
« on: July 27, 2025, 06:28:10 AM »
Barn sends out 47 starters at 6 different tracks yesterday, including 11 winners.  Does anyone have any idea how many employees they have?  Do the 2nd trainers at the various tracks drop in all of these horse, or is it one person doing it?  I guess I never really noticed how large of an operation this actually is.  How many millions of dollars have to be tied up in trucks, trailers, equipment, etc?  That doesn't even include what kind of monster payroll they must have.  Anyone know what kind of turnover rate the barn has?  This is an industry full of comings and goings...do they retain employees very well?

In an interview, he said his expenses are 1 million dollars a month. He also said he enters all the horses when you average 20 million in purses a year. Not a bad profit.

They must be super organized if he is entering all of those horses himself.  Knowing who fits where has to be tough.  And those profits don't take into account the training bills he is taking in.

USTA did a video on him, sorta a day in the life of Burke.   They showed him after training in the morning, talking with 2nd trainers and then from his car entering horses. Going electronic on entries had to greatly streamline that job.

You are leaving out horse flesh.  They get rid of lots of home bred and purchased 2 year olds.  However they produce good studs which are very profitable.
