Justin Pirillo- New super trainer at the Meadows?
« on: July 25, 2025, 10:34:19 AM »
Guy is winning at a 40% clip this year, even racing against Burke.
Prior to this year, was a 17% trainer.
The latest was claiming a trotter for 16 that hadn’t been better than 5th his last 6 starts against the same company.
Won yesterday in 153:2

He reminds me of a trainer there named Sandra Sokol, who all of a sudden became a super trainer at the Meadows a couple years ago.  She left the business this year.

So what’s the common denominator?  Seems the main owners for each trainer are the same people.
Jeffrey Demiere and Howard Balis.  How lucky for them that each trainer they pick each become a super trainer.

Barely heard of him, but 17% before becoming a 'super trainer' overnight is actually pretty good.

Even the tracks worst trainer can become the best in a very short time when you are juicing the horses to high heaven. Pesto is no stranger at all to using drugs in the horses ! Track  doesn’t  test for the right stuff you can can away with it for quite awhile.

All of a sudden, Pirillo has gone cold.  Last 5 cards at the Meadows, he’s 9-0-0-0

He's known as one of the nicest and hardest working guys in the business. Sokol used to work for him.

And Jeremy Indof is the new John Campbell!

4 wins through 5 today, including the 3rd race with Soolaimon.  The horse had been 17-1 and higher in all starts.  Was at the same level.  Faced horses very similar to those he'd been facing.  Was bet down to $7.00 and won first up easily.

Sandra or John? If the latter, before or after he couldn't get a license for years?

They finally booted Johnny after he got nailed with a cattle prod. He bragged he had his kids working like slaves. Was telling people "You want to win, let me have the horse" Finally, He stabled at the same place as Indoff's, they learned well.
