Is harness racing trying to emulate the tbreds sport of kings? What’s with this grade 1 meaning??

Does it mean the trainers are using Grade 1 mislabeled PED’s?? Grade 1 drenches/yogurts?

Graded harness racing stakes have been in existance down under for a long time.  My partners and I bought a Grade 1 winning mare from N Z connections in 1994.
