What’s Wrong With Jessica Otten?
« on: July 12, 2025, 11:23:19 PM »
After a disqualification in the Meadowlands Pace,  wouldn’t you think Otten would ask Braxton Boyd what he thought of what happened in the stretch drive? Instead all she wanted to know was what it felt like to be 25 years old and winning the Pace. And why didn’t she interview the DQ’d driver McCarthy while waiting for the judges to decide the outcome. I would have liked to hear his opinion of what happened in the stretch drive. Absolutely a terrible performance by Otten and the rest of the Fox network team.

Braxton Boyd did discuss it.

Said he would of absolutely won if the 4 didn't come in on him.

Fox feed went off and Big M feed was where the discussion took place.

Yes, different interviewer, thank you, wasn't Otten.

I thought it shouldn't have come down.

Didn't look intentional.

The 4 had position.

Looked incidental.

The track said it was a tough call by the judges and they even said the 9 was squeezing through.

Todd McCarthy should of never came off that rail, Boyd thought Dunn was going to block him so he committed to go up the rail.  If dopey McCarthy would of hugged the rail time likely would of ran out on a successful tip to the outside by Boyd.  Dopey, well he lost the decision.

It doesn't have to be intentional whether it was or not. Watching the head-on shot he obviously put a wheel under him impeding his progress. The 4 had position but when he drifted out the 9 also had position and the 4 stopped his momentum with his wheel.

It was an absolute no brainer to take down Todd. There is no such thing as intentional or not. He put a wheel under him and struck the right hind leg of Boyd’s horse. Stevie Wonders could have made that call.

It do not think it has to be intentional...

The main reason the pylons are there for is safety.

If Boyd was worried that his horse might go down he should've gone inside the last couple of pylons. Mind you, it is a split second decision and likely a natural reaction to take back.

If he does go ITP the worst case scenario is he still crosses the line in second, like he did, and wouldn't get placed back.
Best case, his horse goes by, he proves he had the best horse, and the judges leave him up as he was "forced inside the pylons".
Many horses go inside the pylons to avoid breaking horses and are not DQ'ed.

He def put a wheel under him/took away his lane, which was free and clear until then.

However, Boyd put his horse's foot into the wheel with a subtle to the (his) right maneuver, which doesn't negate the above but it did get the attention that he needed for the DQ.
