Security at the race track
« on: July 03, 2025, 03:26:59 PM »
Just a generalized question to everyone.  How is the security force at your local track.  At Monmouth Park, it is a complete joke.  Last week during simulcasting I witnessed a guy pull a switchblade out of his pocket and threaten another customer that he was going to carve his initials in his face.  This happened during simulcasting when there was only about 15 people there.  Security did nothing and claimed they didn't see it on camera when it was done in the middle of the room.

I was wondering if this is common at other tracks as well lately.

Monmouth, located in beautiful Oceanport, NJ, coastal of course, $mil homes, is a dump, plus you're partnered with NYRA now so what do expect when you start letting New Yawkers in!

Usually wherever the money is, is where the guards are.  tmbz1

Carving initials in someones face is not so bad, in some circles we call it an autograph.

Tracks are doing just fine everywhere else, very safe and sound, coincidentally that improvement came just after I was banded!   ;D

Meadows is pretty tough, they will spot search here in a minute.
We raced at Batavia last year and a local trainer there said Buffalo & Batavia are a free for all, no searching ever. Northfield in 10 yrs we were searched once. Most other tracks have no back stretch.

If a fan at Monticello pulls a knife, by strict definition, it would have to be an attempted suicide.

Security at Batavia is meh. The Gestapo little Freud at Buffalo is a joke. Hands out driving penalties when one customer bitches to him. Mr.Magoo and his boys have ruined racing at Buffalo Raceway. I remember the days of Gaston L, Gerry Shweibel, heck even Simon Crawford was a nice man. Pete Szymanski announcing, loved the place. Now, a dungeon, wont go there much, used to be there 3.4 times a week.
