Hoosier drag
« on: June 18, 2025, 07:34:17 PM »
So they have a weather delay and @ 6:40 [1st race usually goes off@6:28] it says 1st post will 7:24.
Fair enough. With all that delay time, they still didn't go off until 7:31. ATTRACT YOUNG PEOPLE 73cv.2 ngc3

I think Hoosier Park might be the only track handling more year over year.  Drag certainly is a pain.  Attracting new fans would be great but if they aren’t gambling I’m not sure our sport is capable of entertaining anyone for more than an hour or two.  Several Permit holders try to make money with their product.  Our product isn’t advantageous to change, this leaves us in this difficult situation.

I get it and I deal with the nightly drag at these tracks, not just Hoosier obviously, but this was different.
They were already 20+ min past their programmed 1st race post time [which they NEVER meet] and
they then announce after the storm that the new post time is 38 min away. So isn't ALL THAT TIME
enough to get a bet down without then dragging past that announced new time by 7 more minutes?
Excessive and ridiculous. 11.wp

the drag is all Gabe's decision

he is the chief of racing for all Caesars/Harrahs tracks and he is the guy controlling the drag for Lexington also

A lot of it is dictated by the often unrealistic [at least without this extreme drag time] guarantees.
Their last race is usually even worse with a guarantee on the Hi-5. Really stretching my limited
 patience to the brink.
