he is not a bettor but has plenty of insights on other aspects-

But his insights are often very very dated. Repetition doesn't make things true. Still, he is a welcome contrast to almost every other analyst.

if final quarters and final times are so beloved by the fans and industry--then take a look at Lexington in the fall, where $5k claimers go in sub 149 and final quarters go sub 26 for average horses

that virtually lessens all the 148 and sub 148 miles turned in by top class horses

I don't think the obsession/clock staring will stop anytime soon

enjoy these meaningless numpers

I get you, the times are often meaningless as he would get stomped in lesser times by better
'BUT. times do matter [how do you do your handicapping?] and it's fun to see 53.4 half  1:21.1  3/4.
To each his own though.

I rarely play "buggy" racing anymore--but when I  did--it was video replays, who they raced against, and of course the connections

final times and final quarters were at the bottom of my list

but as you say...to each his own

of course back in the 80s and 90s I looked at final times much more seriously--but "times"(no pun intended) have changed

I meant he was racing bottom claimers in the winter, I’m sure he’ll be back there again in a few months after the hot suppers take their toll.
