meanwhile, north of the birder
« on: May 30, 2025, 03:54:26 PM »
North of the border, where the 51st state fun continues, WESTERN FAIR's final card of the year goes tonight first post right around 550p et, and its a big one in London, Ont.
Inc $150,000 Camluck Invitational, among other pitched battles.
Three Hanovers..Brue Hanover, the Mohawk FFA top dog and (J Macdonald/Menary) headlines with Ervin Hanover (Mcnair/Menary) and Yonkers Chase H Hanover (Borth/C Stratton) in the mix too, thats r11.
Two guaranteed pk5 20,000 Canadian $$ plays, races 1&5 and 8-12..and all Mandatory payouts all exotics as night proceeds. *Reminder, WF half-mile, trailer #8, no passing lane.
Could get some northern Canada forest fire smoke showing up tonight, cloud cover anyway from it. London is the Forest City, so only makes sense  (Down the road, Mohawk 6:35et start could also be affected, cloud anyway)
All your favorite Mohawk stars on hand in London tonight drivers and trainers alike, even Dube made trip up, for the solid 12 race card
PLUS the Contest Jockey handicapping online final goes tonight, with 29 entries, some you know, grabbing their share of a grand $$ U.S.

Meantime, bad news
In Quebec, Hippodrome Trois Rivieres, plug pulled on the August 17 Prix D'ete..after reviving the legendary event post-covid, too much financial uncertainty these days inc border crossing questions. Wish it wasnt so but harness racing on the ropes there. or at least top dollar events are. Stay tuned.

Now about that Wagner Inc fam gang . Like that other DelMarva fam of questionable note, the Bidens. So many questions.

  • Trigger: I'm retracting...Gold en Tempo punched his derby ticket (60 points), Ortiz hitting left and horse going sharp left is a bit change (see Sierra Leone).  Horse lost by 1 and lost shit tons w/ diagonol move.  I'm loading up on him in pool 6!

  • Bitter Truth: That Golden Tempo , I'm afraid is  a money burner. Gets so far back. Was in range but just hung and raced even in the stretch. Didn't see a Derby winner in there in my opinion.

  • Trigger: If Pavlovian can rate a bit, maybe he wins the derby.  Nice horse  tmbz1

  • Trigger: I thought BT & I had a real good shot w/ a 110 4/5, wide but nice momentum, and then a sharp left turn mid stretch ended that  ngc3
