Have no idea why I’m watching the 2nd

But was the announce pinched in the mouth and have a fat lip ?

I can’t understand half what he is saying.

Yeah that's the guy that called the $500,000 Borgata final last Friday.. some on here call him Elmer Fudd. I'd rather have senile Roger Huston calling a race and that's saying something.

I wasn't sure if it was Mr or Mrs Fudd until I heard it talk. May be a great person but please Yonkers, find him a different job. The excellent announcers of years passed must be rolling in their graves knowing that this man is calling races at Yonkers Raceway.

If I don't like a particular announcer, or broadcaster on TV, I just mute the sound. I have eyes and can see for myself what's going on. Too many announcers feel the need to talk all the time like they're paid by the word, sometimes, silence is golden.

I mute Roger Huston for obvious reasons

I mute Warkentin because he is wildly inaccurate and is completely full of himself(Greenshoe Drawing Clear)

on the tbred side--i mute Chris Griifin at Aqueduct--his mid race predictions are almost always wrong

I mute Jessica Paquette at Parx because she mumbles her calls

all other announcers I leave the sound on--even the guy from Bangor

I can't stand those announcers either. As for Jessica Paquette, she only got the job because she's a woman and a cheap hire. I think she's a terrible announcer, but some people are afraid to criticize her because she's a woman. Trevor Denman who recently retired had the knack to pick up a horse when he was about to make his move. Warkentin's favorite thing to say is, such and such is locked in with pace, assuming they have pace, but the majority of them wind up having no pace when they get out.

Jessica is a great person and her calls have improved--but she adds nothing to the race and mumbles-so she gets muted

Warkentin is brutally inaccurate and his voice inflections are not called for--but he sounds "nice" and M1 still has a decent following so they think he is is good for some unknown reason--he sucks

How he ever made it into the Hall of Fame is totally political because everyone from Meadowlands seems to get in. He tries to be funny sometimes with his calls too, but he's not funny. Jessica may be a great person but her announcing is nothing to write home about. Not sure if you're familiar with former Philadelphia Flyers announcer Gene Hart. He was an excellent hockey announcer but as a race caller at Brandywine Raceway was terrible.

Yes--Hart is a HOF hockey announcer and was brilliant in hockey-as a race caller--i agree he was terrible despite being a student of Roy Schudt

Keith Jones was a disciple of Gene Hart and I always thought Keith sucked-afraid to call a photo for 25 years

Keith Jones was actually the announcer when Garden State had harness racing and was also announcing at Philly Park then too and chose to stay at Philly Park which turned out to be the right move. Track announcers are usually right on the finish line even though they may be high up, so not going out on a limb on a tight photo shouldn't happen. If you're wrong, so what. I'm excellent at calling tight finishes because I know what tracks have inside or outside advantages at the finish line. Harrah's Philly has one of the biggest outside advantages on photos around.

  • rainman2: yes---as i said earlier  more important things than political differences.  betting and owning horses among other things.  many other people in the world have gone through the same exact thing.  people have to learn from these experiences instead of harboring ill-will from them.  The world is screwed up because of thes things.
