Meadowlands focus on winning driver’s song choice
« on: March 23, 2025, 08:25:54 AM »
I have read a lot of idiotic things, but in today’s Harness Racing Update, future Pulitzer Prize winning scribe Debbie Little ( sarcasm intended) devotes a whole column, reinforced by Jason Settlemoir’s  enthusiasm, for the reasoning behind the songs selected by drivers as they head back to the winner’s circle. Incredible.

Maybe they like the song.  ngc3 ngc3
Next week she will write about the races that will have fans wearing chicken costumes. This is New York/New Jersey. I find it embarrassing.

So can I assume that Ausitn Siegelman's song is "You Suck" by The Murmurs?

Pocono tried that many years ago. One I remember was Kyle, The Smile, DiBenedetto

I also think the nicknames are stupid, like calling Todd McCarthy, hot toddy, Jonathan Ahle, go Johnny go, Vinny Ginsburg, the spirit in the sky, but the one driver who doesn't have a nickname is Dexter Dunn. People could care less about walk-up songs or nicknames.

Tim Tetrick is Howdy Doody. I don’t care what nickname they gave him or the big production they had to get it.

The late Jack E Lee from Freehold and Roosevelt started the nicknames. He had several for Herve, "The man with the golden hands, the colonel. George Anthony who idolizes Jack E Lee announces occasionally at Yonkers still does it. He also filled it once in a while at Pocono a few years ago before he got fired and used to call Matt Kakaley, "special k.

Maybe they could dedicate an entire issue to hers and Dave’s favorite sandwiches.  Have to be a double issue!   ngc3

I'm all for it. New, different, marketing, branding, whatever. Who cares. Let them do whatever they want to do. If you have a better idea, Jason's email address is public knowledge. Let him know.

Less people on track, but it's like what John Campbell said (when his oldest daughter went to HS and then later on his his youngest) the Meadowlands, and that is in part reflective of the sport.

Yet no focus on the gambling. They have 2 people educating the  audience nightly on the worst possible way to make pick 4 bets. Use the ML favorites in every leg. Then they tickets cash but you get back less than the ticket cost. Is there any better way possible to chase people to other forms of gambling?
Little can't even get the basics correct. Albert a scootin he said had a real tough trip the race prior. Are you kidding me? The guy is totally clueless. He used that horse in his pick 4 because the ML was 4/1. No other reason. Then he loses $$ on a cashed ticket.
