MEADOWLANDS ELIMINATING AMATUER RACES.
« on: January 08, 2025, 06:07:33 AM »
Out of 28 races this weekend, only 1 amateur race. In the past, there could be 3-4 ON ONE NIGHT. Management raved about how their customers loved to bet on them, and how the handle in these races was so good.  There were trot and pacing events

Curious why the change?   Is it they use these races only when they need them to fill the card.

Also noticed they only had 5 trots out of 28 races.

You just answered your own question. When all the other tracks are racing, these are often needed to ensure a full card, and they're always a guaranteed 10 horse field. This week - full card with two AE's in every race.

Tough time of year to fill green trotter races. Most one turning 3 (or even 4) with any potential are laid off this time of year, in my experience.

  • Calhoun: Thx I'm leaning to the 5 there.  Those CD/GP full field races look the best on the page. 1/2 length from being a G3 winner.
