I watched the replay several times. It looks like when he regained the lead from the 3 horse before the quarter, he cut over on him and the 9 horse was able to close the hole, leaving him parked the rest of the mile. They never showed any head on replays, so unless you saw one, you can't see what really happened.

Don't blame the judges, blame Drew Monti for cutting over leaving the 3 horse nowhere to go. The 9-horse, who was sitting 3rd at the time closed the hole so fast, there was no way for the 3 to get back in the 2-hole. The 1 was definitely at fault for being careless, but the track should have shown you the head on shot while the inquiry was in progress so you could see the reason for the DQ.

You're right, I confused the 2 with the 9, thanks. I've been watching races for over 50 years and have never seen something like that happen. I don't follow Batavia's races but it's still Drew Monti's fault for being careless on the regain. You say the 3 has a habit of drifting out, even so, when the judges see him stuck on the outside like that, they have to look to see what happened and without a head-on shot we really can't tell. If I would have bet the winner, I would be pissed off just like seem to be.

Only Drew Monti Could Screw Up So Bad. Easiest Kind Of Winner. The Kid Is Overrated. Not Paying Attention.

As far as Drew Monti being overrated. He drove some a few winters ago at Meadowlands and won a few races and I thought he was okay. He also drove some of The Meadows and didn't do well. From what I've seen of him, he's average at best on a smaller circuit.

Drew monti being overrated and average at best, wow. He is 1st in purse earnings, 1st in driver wins and 2nd in drivers 2nds in a race. If he is that bad than every other driver must be really bad and maybe they should all find a new job .

In my opinion, most of the drivers at that track do stink even though they win because on a 1/2 mile track it's all about position. With Jim Morrill Jr not driving he's obviously picked up alot more wins. My point was, on a better circuit, he's average at best, which might be good enough to be leading driver at Batavia with Morrill missing in action. If you think he's better, fine, that's your opinion, which you're entitled to.

No doubt when morrill is there he is the best but the other drivers are all afraid of him, they give him the lead, won’t park him, they let him have his own way on the front. He puts the horse always in a good spot to win, knows how to keep a horse live most of the time.

My criticism of him stems from when he's driven at The Meadows which only has a few good drivers, he looked totally lost and rarely won. It's easier to win races on a 1/2-mile track if you have a good post and are on or near the lead because there's less strategy involved. I agree, at many tracks the top driver has the run of the track because the other drivers are intimated by him.
