Credit Where Credit Is Due / Joe Bongiorno
« on: September 09, 2024, 09:03:22 PM »
Race 10 Harrah's Philadelphia September 8, 2024. Watched the race twice and Joe did a real nice job.  Sixth in the stretch and wins.

So was that a good drive by Joe ? Or a good effort by the horse ?

Joe is not incompetent. He's certainly not dangerous. However, he is not a legit top driver IMO. You can look at stats and money won all you want, but that is not what dictates a great driver. Joe does not rate anywhere near the top in any category you would rate a driver in. One reason being is that he didn't get his experience the old-fashion way-----by driving all kinds of horses, crazies, cripples, problematic horses, and so on, and drive them hundreds of times and have thousands of drives where you actually learn how to be a an all around, total, complete, horseman and driver. When you win 5000 races as a driver, you learn more from the other 28 or 30,000 drives you didn't win.

He's a clown show.  Bouncing and slashing like he's from the 70's.  Tony Alagna said it best years ago "The only reason Burke fired Kakaley for Joey B is Kakaley has an ugly sister!"

I never said he was the best driver in the history of the game. I just said he used his noggin and drove a nice race. Last night at Yonkers he had four (4) Wins and none of them were favorites. Not too bad last night either.

Tony Alagna is the biggest clown show, take things where they come from  73cv.2 73cv.2. Imagine paying his bills and having his groom drive. Maybe he just has a cute brother.  ngc3

Oh I don't disagree with that at all but what he said was true.  If Jenn Bo Bo wasn't blowing RB at the drop of a dime Joey wouldn't of even sat behind a Burke horse.
