Next week, there will only be three live racing days as Aqueduct will be dark on Easter Sunday, March 31
OZONE PARK, N.Y. -- Due to a forecast that calls for heavy rain and wind Saturday, Aqueduct will move the eight-race program scheduled for that day to Sunday, the New York Racing Association announced Thursday afternoon. The card will be run as originally drawn.
According to weather.com, there is a chance Saturday for between one and two inches of rain with winds between 10 and 20 miles per hour and a high of 51 degrees. The forecast for Sunday calls for mostly sunny skies and high near 47.
The eight-race card includes the $100,000 Biogio’s Rose for New York-bred fillies and mares scheduled for one mile.
NYRA typically draws Sunday’s card on Thursday but did not complete taking entries for that program. At around 11 a.m. Thursday, NYRA sent a text to horsemen indicating that entries were light for Sunday.
Conducting racing four days a week in March, it has been difficult to fill races at Aqueduct. Each of the last two Saturday cards were drawn with only eight races.
