If you look at the horses legs mid-stretch it appears he is out of gas but the driver definitely made no effort to shake him up.

The gap in the pocket was likely created by the fast 3rd quarter. 

As for Schadel, he drove several first time starters for the year the same way last week at the Meadows, with mixed success. 

 

[Bitter Truth]

 Not uncommon with Schadel's horses. Good early speed, puking at the end, especially when he drives.
 The announcer was convinced not far from the line that he had an insurmountable lead. Like Schadel, he was wrong.
